Naomi Rae is a Toronto based visual artist. She received her bachelor of arts degree from the University of Toronto with a major in fine art studio. Although her portfolio focuses on her acrylic paintings her studies were much broader including a variety of traditional techniques and more contemporary drawing styles.

Naomi Rae paints in a very intuitive way, she works with very simple concepts - a colour or object - until the painting is developed enough to begin to develop its own voice. Naomi Rae often expresses her appreciation for science, spirituality, animals and the environment in her work.

You can see many of her framed drawings and smaller paintings as part of her May 2005 art show catalogue on her Sunrae website. Sunrae is a name given to Naomi Rae by her brother as part of a play on words with respect to the song “Do, Re, Mi”. She has been using Sunrae as a nickname and as a business name for the past nine years.

Naomi Rae participated in group shows in Toronto at 360° Art Gallery, Vern’s Café, and the JCC. She has shown her work in a number of craft shows including shopping centre craft shows and the Annex Christmas Gift Show.

In addition to her studies at U of T, Naomi Rae completed the Business Institute of Artists Certificate Program for Visual Artists a member of VAO (Visual Arts Ontario).

Outside of her studio she can be found working with Ronald Anson-Cartwright, a business valuator and forensic accountant. She also enjoys drawing, reading, writing, rock climbing, Japanese animation, dancing, singing and traveling.
